I just got a Braille Note MPower (yay!) and I'm trying to rip my CDs to my compact flash card so I can use the BN's Media Player. Problem is, I'm having trouble copying them. I usually use Windows Media Player to copy CDs into My Music, then I use the Copy to Folder option in the My Music edit menu to get them onto my compact flash. Problem is, once I try and play the media files I've just copied, it says there are no files in the folder. I'm really confused and annoyed. Sorry I'm a bad explainer when it comes to these things, but I would really apreciate it if someone would help me sort this out. The Media Player is really cool and I'd like to use it more.
it really sounds as though you are over complicating things here. don't use media player to move things. all you have to do is go into "my documents", assuming that you have your music saved in there, if you don't then find the place on your hard drive that you do have it saved. once you have found the stuff you wish to copy simply select what you want and press "ctrl and c". that's the windows copy command. having done that then go into "my computer" arrow down until you find your flash card. press enter on that and then press "ctrl and v", which is the windows paste command.
follow those instructions and you'll be using the Braille Notes media player in no time.
if you need more help still, try and catch me on vt at some point and i'll happily talk you threw it a step at a time.
good luck with it.
Dan.
If you're feeling brave, go to www.bestmp3guide.com and follow the instructions over there for ripping CDs. Otherwise, you might want to try a program like CDex, which you can download from jfwlite.com. Can you see other files on your CF card? Try putting some Word or other documents on there to make sure the BN can read the card.
Yes, I can see other files on there, thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll try them out
